Mix Prep Guidelines
Contact
Contact Kevin to set up your mixing project, and follow these guidelines for preparing your files:
- All files should be saved in the original sample rate / bit depth. Don't convert to another sample rate or bit depth, keep your tracks as you recorded them. Every track should be raw, meaning the original recording with no committed effects or plugins. If there are tracks that are built around an effects chain so it's integral to the sound, keep that intact—but also provide the clean original track of the instrument / vocal as well.
- All files should be consolidated / saved from the same zero starting point on the timeline, so they line up correctly together. Provide the tempo of each song in your project notes. Make sure all your edits / fades / crossfades / tunings (all Auto-tune or Melodyne must be printed) are correct.
- Properly name all tracks so there are no files titled "Audio 1," "Audio 2," etc. The more organized you are, the more time that can be spent creating the perfect mix of your song.
- Include your rough mix in the project files. This is just for reference - Kevin will mix every song from scratch, but a rough mix helps to know what panning you want on drums, placement of guitars, etc.
- Include a short (5-6 songs at the most) Spotify playlist of songs to use as a reference, with notes. You won't sound like these artist examples, you'll sound like you—this is just a fast and easy way to communicate aspects from other mixes that you like to hear, such as a certain punch in the drums, a certain brightness / upfront quality to the vocals, a certain warmth in the guitars, etc.

- Then, send Kevin your files via Dropbox or WeTransfer.
Fees & Policies
- There is a rate for independent music artists, and a rate for major label projects. Contact Kevin for more details. Mastering is included for free with any song Kevin mixes, so you'll receive a finished mastered mix with no separate fee for mastering.
- The mixing fee includes 2 mix revisions per song. Beyond that, each additional revision requires a separate fee.
- Any editing / vocal tuning / engineering needed on the files requires a separate fee, so please verify that your exported tracks are correct, with no pops, clicks, out of tune moments, etc.
- The price includes:
- Main mix
- Vocal up 1dB mix (if needed)
- TV mix (lead vocals muted)
- Instrumental mix
- Stems (unmastered mix stems with effects printed per group, set up so with faders at zero there is no peaking. Typically, this will be stereo WAV files of the kick + effects, snare + effects, toms + effects, overheads / cymbals + effects, percussion + effects, bass + effects, guitars + effects, synths + effects, orchestral elements + effects, lead vocals + effects, backing vocals + effects, etc).
- Booking a mix project requires 50% upfront payment of the total work in advance, and the final 50% due before delivery of the final mix, prior to revisions. Once revisions are finalized, the extra versions will be exported and a Dropbox link will be provided for download of all files. Payments are handled via PayPal or Venmo.
